"Social
networking" why the hype?
A lot
of people want to understand what Social networking sites like
"Facebook" or "Twitter" are for and what the hype is all
about. I dare say a lot of people who do use them haven't got
a particular strategy they're applying when using them either
- they just work well for communication with friends - and that
- in a world of SMS & email is testament
enough to their effectiveness.
But the
hype about these tools comes from the ability - if
properly used - to get noticed, increase your online reputation and drive people into
making "next-steps" types of contact and that is where they'rrre
grrrreat!
Social
networking isn't about getting in front of the general public who
couldn't care less. This still requires an army of publicists,
a well-connected family, or a big budget and marketing
campaign.
Right
now, social networking sites are the most effective way of building
and keeping in front of a group of, say, 2 - 300 or so people who
have an interest in you - but who (like all of us) cannot
actively catch up and stay abreast of your news. And it is about
having each of those people in some way or form then taking a
follow-up action about you.
Think
of this in business terms and the concept is very powerful.
And no other existing mass medium allows you to do
this so well Read

What
is working, in the world of "search" at the mo?
The web
is full, email is saturated, the blogosphere groaning under the
weight of preachy opinion. Nobody is going to find you
unless you are find-able. Here is a summary of the things I am
finding are working for my own - and client - websites at the
moment.
a)
Unique content relevant to the page you are publishing. Copy
writing is an art form.
b) Site
optimisation according to best practice (see me for
details).
c)
Being linked-to by high reputation sites that are related to your
subject matter.
d) Use
of Google Analytics & Webmaster tools to see what is working and
what is not and adjusting accordingly.
e) Use
of Pay Per Click advertising, both to gain market intelligence and
to get your own site found - for the most part at no cost at
all.
f)
eMail marketing.
f) Use
of Social media and networking facilities (an extension of the above
topic) to drive people to your site.

Sites
of interest this month
As well
as doing free "Searchability" reviews, we are involved with the
following very different sites this month:
Greenenergy-eu.com

This
dynamic company is working hard to obtain UK accreditations for
its amazing range of Infrared Heaters and building its client
base. Significant things this last month: we have helped with
a re-branding and "condensing" of the site to make it prettier and
punchier - to good effect: PageRank is up to 2 and visitor stats are
climbing. See also a souvenir of a recent trade fair on
YouTube and
spot the voice-over! See http://www.GreenEnergy-eu.com
and watch this space!
Domaine
Chater
“Domaine
Chater “ search results roughly double what they were last
year. We continue our relationship with Domainechater.com and
hope to see a great summer for them.
Check
out Award-winning French Duras Wines at http://www.Domainechater.com to see
and purchase their products on line.

Xoom
Hire
Work
continues to promote Xoom. We've switched focus to organic
search optimisation and have some 25 location-specific pages
for various key cities of the world.
See
http://www.xoomhire.com and
why not use them next time you want to find the best car rental deal
from over 100 rental companies?
La
Croix Spa

La
Croix statistics have gone orbital for a small self-catering
vacation business. Currently over 700 visitors a month. We've
had to stop the PPC campaigns for the summer now as the books are
full and steps are in place to encourage out-of-season
bookings.
